FAQs

What happens during my first appointment at EMR Wellbeing?
You will be asked to fill in a Client Intake Form, which provides your Therapist with information about you, your over-all health and what you would like to achieve from the massage session(s). From this, more questions maybe asked, some Range of Movement testing and then a discussion on what areas of your body will be worked on during the session.
You will be then left alone to get yourself ready on the massage table, or if you need assistance please let your therapist know.

Where will the massage take place?

There is a private, clean and warm massage/treatment room at the EMR Wellbeing.  Your massage will take place in this room.
EMR Wellbeing also offers Work Place Chair Massages, where the Therapist can come to your place of work and a mobile massage chair is used. Please refer to Work Place Massages under the Services Tab.

What should I wear during my massage?

Depending on what type of massage you will be receiving, you generally will remove most of your clothing.  As massage is a hands-on therapy and it is common to use massage balms to help facilitate the gliding of the Therapists hands directly on your skin.
It is important that you are comfortable and relaxed during the session, clean towels are used and cover you.  Only areas of the body that are being worked on will be exposed.

What should I do during the massage session?

This is your time, so if you want to chat during the session, do so.  If you do not want to chat, please do not feel like you have to.  It is important that you feel comfortable and relaxed.
You can adjust your body position on the massage table at any time to keep yourself comfortable.  You maybe asked to move by your Therapist, this is to help with massage techniques used and to work on different parts of your body.
Stretching maybe a part of the session, so communication between yourself and the therapist will be required.

What type of balms/oils does EMR Wellbeing use?

There are a variety of balms that are used, the majority of the balms are made by PureFX, a natural beeswax balm, made in Kaiopoi, NZ  http://www.purefx.co.nz
Also available is Evening Primrose Oil and Almond Oil, Anti-Inflammatory Cream and Hot Rub Cream.
Some of the balms are scented with Essential Oils, if you want a fragrance free balm used, please let your Therapist know.
When using these balms, not a lot has to be applied on the body, it will soak into your skin so you won’t leave feeling “oily”.  Some types of therapies provided at EMR Wellbeing do not have to use any balms, this is mainly so Myofascial Release Techniques, Cupping, Trigger Points and Dynamic Stretching.
EMR Wellbeing is also an Independent Sales Consultant for World Organic Products.  Some of the World Organic product range could be used in your massage session.  For more information on World Organic certified skin care and make up, please check out www.worldorganics.com/emrwellbeing

Do I need to make an appointment?

Yes, all appointments are made in advance.  You can do this online at www.ezybook.co.nz/pages/emrwellbeing or by phone or email.
Online booking is the quickest, you can either choose a 30, 45, 60 or 90 minute session. With a quick registration on the Ezybook site you can manage your own appointments 24/7.

What areas can Massage assist?

Please look at the services provided by EMR Wellbeing on the services menu.  You do not need to know or specify which massage modality you are wanting, this can be discussed with your Therapist at the time of your appointment.

What are the methods of payment?

Payment is made at the end of each session.  You can pay by Eftpos (no Credit Cards) or Cash.  Internet banking is also an option, but needs to be organised before your appointment.

What is the Cancellation Policy?

It is requested that you provide 24 hours notice of any cancellation or change of time for your appointment.  The reason for this, there is a greater chance that EMR Wellbeing will be able to fill that spot with another client.
If you give less than 24 hours notice of change, you will charged 100% of the session price, this is due to your Therapist at EMR Wellbeing is self employed, which means no work, no pay.
You can send someone else in your place, but they will be subject to the same pricing conditions.
